The Resource Center’s Board of Trustees governs the institute’s
management and finances. The Board selects the president; establishes
its policies, procedures, and operating objectives; adopts its annual
budget; reviews and advises on its agenda and administrative appointments;
and protects its intellectual independence and financial integrity.
The president is responsible for setting the Institute’s
agenda, selecting its administrative staff, approving its operations,
ensuring the integrity and quality of its work, and representing
the Institute to all of its various audiences. A team of staff assists
the president in these responsibilities.
In all of its endeavors, the Research Center, its officers and
staff are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of integrity,
intellectual rigor, and excellence – and for sustaining its
commitment to open resources and continuous improvement in the pursuit
of its medical and healthcare objectives.
As a tax-exempt educational organization governed by Section 501©(3)
of the Internal Revenue Code, it is generally prohibited from attempting
to influence legislation in the U.S. Congress or other legislative
bodies. The Resource Center for these and other reasons abstains
from any form of policy advocacy as an institution.
AMA Resource Center’s president, board members, staff or
employees may take positions on policy and other issues currently
being considered by Congress or other legislations. When the do,
they are speaking for themselves and not for either the Resource
Center or its board. It is appropriate and customary to include
an explicit disclaimer to this effect when they present oral or
written comments to a legislative committee or other government
body.
AMA Resource Center’s abstaining from public policy issues
does not apply to its own institutional interests.
